    The Fontana Leadership Intervention Program (FLIP) is founded upon a partnership between the City of Fontana Police Department, Fontana School Police, and ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥.  

    The 16-week program offers "at-risk" teenagers an opportunity to experience a unique educational environment which will positively impact the rest of their lives.


    Registration Requirements

     Prior to entering the program, potential applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Be referred to the program by a parent, school administrator, Child Welfare and Attendance, court or probation 
    • Be accepted by the Admissions Board
    • Parent(s) and the student mustattend a parent/student orientation
    • Complete and submit a

    FLIP Referral Applications and Parent Request for Assistance forms will be accepted at the ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Police Department. Please fill out and mail, fax or deliver the application to:

    Once the applicant has been accepted and the parent and student have attended orientation, information will be provided to the parent(s) regarding the program start date.

    Class Information

    Students enrolled in FLIP will be required to attend 16, eight-hour classes held at the ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ on consecutive Saturdays. These training classes will focus on topics which include:

    • Violence prevention
    • Drug and alcohol resistance
    • Ethics
    • Leadership skill development
    • Teamwork

     

    Course Curriculum

    The course curriculum will be facilitated by high-quality instructors and include field trips to enhance education at various locations.  In addition, participants will attend daily morning meetings with the school resource officer assigned to their respective schools and be subject to other opportunities for team building.

    Graduation

    Upon successful completion of the FLIP program, students will participate in a formal graduation ceremony which will include a keynote address by a recognized community leader.  

    Graduates in high school will also earn five elective credits toward graduation and become part of an on-going partnership to help ensure their future success.

    The Fontana Police Department, ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥, and Corporate Partners will provide an education rich environment dedicated to building the next generation of community leaders.
