It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to the 2023-2024 school year! I am Alejandro Lopez, the proud principal of Primrose Elementary.   It is an honor and a privilege to serve the students and the community of Primrose and Fontana. As an immigrant, educator, and parent I wholeheartedly believe that school can be transformative and serve as a change agent to improve the future lives of our students and families.  As a kid growing up in Baldwin Park, I was blessed to have mentors that emphasized the importance of completing my schoolwork, paying attention in class, and treating others with respect which ultimately led into my acceptance into the University of California, Irvine.  I believe our core work is to educate all our children as future college scholars and have them decide as future high school students whether they want to pursue college, or follow another career path.  Outside of school, I am a father to 3 young adult children, Antonio (20), Alejandro (25), and Isabel (27) and when I have some free time, I enjoy restoring classic gm vehicles.   

Last year, our staff worked in collaboration to ensure a safe campus and climate for all our students.  Our efforts were rewarded as our school earned PBIS Gold Implementation status based on our work around the four basic expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Kind.  Our students who earned their monthly PBIS celebrations thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations set out for them.   In addition, our teachers worked year-round to ensure the success of our students by participating in professional development, creating standards-based rigorous lessons, and intervening when students needed additional support. I’m very proud of the work our teachers and instructional staff have done to support all our students. 

NEW FOR 2023-2024 School Year  

AVID Elementary- We are proud to announce that Primrose is a certified AVID elementary school.  Our 3-5 students will maintain AVID Binders to organize their notes and classroom materials.  Students in K-2 will be provided communication folders for the purposes of communication and homework.

Full Day Kinder-  This year FUSD will be offering all day Kinder from the beginning of the school year.  We understand that some Kinder students may have an adjustment period at the beginning of the year, but most will acclimate within a few weeks or by the start of the 2^nd month. 

CONTINUING PROGRAMS

Our teachers and staff will be continuing to prioritize literacy, numeracy, and character development through our PBIS work and our weekly social emotional lessons with our Second Step Program. Some of our other continuing programs include: Student Leadership Team, 20/20 Leadership for Girls, and Dance enrichment for all students.  We will work with our PTA to help support and fund academic fieldtrips for the upcoming year.

As your principal, I look forward to building relationships with all our stakeholders and communicate mainly through ParentSquare, the school website, and our social media.   We operate from a servant leadership model and are doors are always open to address any concerns, questions, or if parents just want to give us some positive feedback.  As an admin team we are highly visible with our students before school, during recesses, and classroom visits. 

Our school office team is always here to help, as well. Please make sure that we have your updated and current phone numbers and emails, so you can stay informed on all school information.

Please register and update your Q parent connect. By using the Parent Portal, parents have the ability to be notified of their child’s new teacher, view attendance, test scores, print their child’s report card, and download important documents directly from the portal.  Also, a reminder that we are a Closed Campus to support student safety and campus security.  Please make sure you check in at the office before entering campus.  Thank you for your continued support!

It is my pleasure and honor to work alongside the students, parents and staff. I want to invite our families to be get involve in the various committees and attend our informational Coffee with Principal meetings.  Together we can create the schools that our children deserve and support our students in their journey towards academic and personal success!
