Dear Poplar Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope you had a wonderful vacation and are ready to start another great year at Poplar Elementary School. We look forward to working with you and supporting your child’s needs and providing him/her with an outstanding educational experience.
Our first day of school will be on August 3rd, Thursday! On the first day of school, parents will be allowed to walk their child to his/her classroom. Also, there will be school officials in front of the school to find your child’s teacher. Please be patient with us as we are supporting each parent.
The schedule of the day is below:
Gates open in the morning at 7:15
Breakfast in the cafeteria 7:20
School starts 7:45
Dismissal 2:20
Kindergarten parents park at the North end of the school on the street and if you have siblings, have them meet you at the Kindergarten class area. We do offer pickup on the South end of the school and will open the gate for parents to drive in at 2:15. SDC parents will be able to pick up their students at 2:00 at the South gate. Please make sure you hold up the SDC sign to identify you have a SDC student to pick up. Please be patient with us on the first few days of school as parents learn the pickup and drop off system.
We did send out messages pertaining to the first day of school on Parent Square regarding Dismissal, Arrival, and Kindergarten/TK. You should receive a message from the District regarding plugging in your child’s laptop to receive all the updates, so his/her laptop is ready to go the first day of school.
I am anticipating an outstanding year at Poplar Elementary School. My staff and I look forward to meeting you and working together to ensure your child’s success.
